FAQs on pelagic fishing
The SPSG North Sea herring fishery was certified as complying with the MSC Principles and Criteria for Sustainable Fishing on 15 July 2008 with the SPSG western component of North East Atlantic mackerel receiving certification on 21 January 2009. A 'hat-trick' of certified fisheries was completed when the SPSG Atlanto-Scandian herring fishery gained certification on 19 March 2010.
